Other Wolf Dreams

Here is an amazing letter I received from another woman who also had the wolf come to her in her dreams to give her the strength and courage to go on with her life and make it matter.

Hi Beryl,

I found your story when I was surfing to find a friend of mine some inspirational story. You see, I am involved in a women's emotional healing group and since my friend has started healing, her husband left her. I have been finding positive inspirational quotes and stories to send her once a day to help her through this difficult time. Anyway...I found your story and I almost fell off my chair!!!(exaggeration of coarse! lol) I too was in an abusive marriage for 13 years and the wolf came to me in my dreams also!!! Amazing huh? Unlike you, however, I did not talk to them because I didn't know I was supposed to. I'm native (Cree-Métis) but I lost my culture so I know very little about the culture. You are very fortunate to have an elder to speak with!!! Please email me....I would love to know more about you and I would love to share my story with you as well! I'm currently working on a web site (wolf she warrior) but I have much to learn and am learning as I go along. I will share more with you if and or when I hear from you! In Spirit....Connie

Hi Beryl!
Thanks for writing! . ....I had the black wolf come to me 3 times in dreams and once in real life. The first time a wolf came to me was when I was still married (I'm divorced and living common law with a different man) and living out of town. I used to have a dog that slept on my porch and one night she took off, terrified, to my ex mother-in-laws house (across the road from us) so she looked over to see what scared my dog and she saw a big black wolf laying on my porch. I was told later that it was there to protect me. The first time it came to me in a dream was when I was struggling with the decision on whether to divorce my husband or not (he was abusing me and I was in a depression and having suicidal thoughts). I dreamt that I was with three other women (my two sisters and my ex sister-in-law) and all of our children...we were in the country looking for a place to picnic. I was walking ahead with a couple of the kids when I looked up and saw wolves in the distance (and they were huge). When I turned around to warn the other women, I discovered I was alone with all these kids and it was up to me to protect them. At this point, I realized that these black wolves had encircled us (they kept their distance) and I began leading these kids up a mountain. Suddenly I was taken up to the Creator and for the first time in my life, I felt safe and "home" I recall running into outstretched arms, I saw no face but I cried and poured out my pain to the Creator. I remember feeling such relief to be away from.....here? and then he told me I had to go back. I cried and begged him to let me stay but he said..."the children need you." I woke up in my own bed and felt heartbroken to be back in my life. The second time the wolf came to me in my dreams was during a time when I was a member of alcoholics Anonymous (I'm a recovering alcoholic...5 years clean and sober as of yesterday) and we were at a campsite having a picnic (myself and various other members). Suddenly chaos broke out and everyone was running away and fighting.....I was frozen to the spot because I was trying to understand what was going on and out of the trees came a couple of wolves, one grabbed my sleeve with its mouth and led me into the trees to safety. later, it turned out that I left AA because of all the hypocrisy and back stabbing that was going on.

The last time that a wolf came to me was again recently and again it pulled me by the sleeve to safety but I could not remember what from. I think I don't remember because it is yet to happen. a few weeks ago, I dreamt I was talking to first one male elder and then two more joined us (female) and they told me "your already good enough. stop trying to be something you already are." I grew up in an alcoholic home where I (and my siblings were abused). I was abused sexually, physically, emotionally and mentally. Needless to say, I struggle with low self-esteem and self worth. All of my siblings are manifesting their pain in one way or another but I appear to be the only one so far that has found this recovery journey. i dropped out of school at the age of 13 (with my parents permission!!) and got married and had kids early (first child at 19 years old). I returned to school in my early thirties and earned a diploma. 5 years ago I got sober and began attending university....I have since earned a diploma in social work, an Associate of Arts Degree, and I was on the honour role for two years in a row. I am still attending university with intentions of having my own counselling practice. My aspirations are to help those in need. I want to take my experiences and make it matter that they happened at all. The thought that it was all for nothing causes turmoil for me. Anyway....I look forward to hearing from you again! ( I have to run!)

letters  2007

I read about your wolf dream on a website and I to was in an abusive relationship, mostly controlling, emotional & verbal but two weeks before my husband beat me up I had two dreams about wolves so me being a believer about dreams, I did some research and checked with my dream interpretation book and it told me that wolf dreams are sign of danger, so I tried to figure out what I would be in danger from and lo and behold it was my husband and when I think back I had other dreams with my deceased grandma in them and in them she was warning me and protecting me. But yes dreams are something that everyone should pay attention to..

Good Evening. Normally I don't write to people but I was touched by your story and your art. I have had dreams of black wolves since I was 6. ( I am 32 now) I have consulted a Shaman and have done better with it in the years past. It was hard as a child because I never knew what brought the nightmares on. I have had several dreams of feeling trapped while the wolves or wolf tried to get it. I know what you been through and I want to say you have found an awesome way to express it.
